BMS Estimator

A well‑established Building Management Systems (BMS) specialist with over 20 years’ experience delivering projects across the Midlands is looking to appoint a BMS Estimator. With a strong reputation for technical delivery and long‑term client relationships, this business typically works within one hour of Birmingham and offers a stable, supportive environment for long‑term career development.

This role includes a structured handover and a clear pathway into a senior position over time.

What you’ll be doing

This is a fully office‑based role in Central Birmingham, supporting the commercial and delivery teams by producing accurate BMS cost estimates across a range of projects. The position is open to candidates from BMS, electrical, or mechanical backgrounds who want to specialise in estimating.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing BMS project estimates from tender and enquiry stage
• Reviewing specifications, drawings, and scopes of work
• Producing cost breakdowns for labour, materials, software, and commissioning
• Liaising with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal delivery teams
• Supporting value engineering and tender clarifications
• Assisting with handover from estimating to project delivery
• Working closely with the Senior Estimator during the transition period

Who we are looking for

We welcome applications from junior through to senior‑level candidates, with attitude, accuracy, and willingness to learn being key.

Suitable backgrounds include:

• BMS Estimator or Assistant Estimator
• Electrical or Mechanical Estimator with an interest in BMS
• BMS Engineer / Commissioning Engineer looking to move into estimating

Key skills and attributes:

• Good understanding of building services or control systems
• Strong attention to detail and numerical ability
• Comfortable working with drawings, specifications, and spreadsheets
• Good communication skills and a collaborative approach
• Willingness to develop into a senior estimating role
